Bishop Calvin Gould, Sr.
Bishop Calvin Gould Sr. was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 8th, after his family relocated to Omaha from Helena, Arkansas. Out of eleven children, he was the seventh child born to James Louis and Ida Mae Gould. He attended Lake and Lothrop Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High, and graduated from Central High School in 1974. Bishop Gould continued his education at OIC, UNO, and Metropolitan Community College. He married Valerie “Penny” M. Wilson on December 4, 1976. They have four children: Rosetta, Crystal, Calvin II, and Candace. In his career he worked as a Civil Engineering Technician with a certification in Computer Aided Drafting. He worked at Kirkham Michael Consulting Engineers for 32 years. You can see many of his accomplishments around town such as the Northwest Connector, Storz Expressway, and the Sorensen Expressway. He was one of the first minorities to work in the field of municipal and environmental engineering for Kirkham Michael, throughout their history. Before being elected as Pastor of Greater Beth-el Temple he worked at Northern Natural Gas as a Sr. Designer.
Bishop Gould’s first visit to Greater Bethlehem Temple was during a revival and one week later, June 15,1975; he was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Four days later the Lord blessed him with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. Since then, he has held many positions and worked diligently in church as Young People Leader, (Local, State, and National), Elder, Ordained Minister, Board Member, Sunday School Teacher, Tarrying Team Leader. He utilized his talents drawing and designing many banners and decorations and has participated in many programs acting and directing. He has been a Junior Deacon, Brotherhood Secretary, Usher, Cleanup Team Captain, Chief of Security for JCAC, and Pastors Choir President. His wife and all of his children have been baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost. He enjoys reading and studying his Bible, spending time with family, watching sports, his artwork and music.
